The Royals were so good at home last season that people were concocting theories that they were cheating. They were ridiculous theories, and they were getting exhausting to read, but I have to tell you that I could go for some ridiculous theories right now. The Royals haven’t won at home in June. The last time they scored more than four runs in a home game was May 30, and they lost. Since completing a sweep of the White Sox with a 10-0 win, the Royals have played 20 games at Kauffman Stadium. They’ve won four of them and scored 36 total runs. Look, I know they’re set on leaving Kauffman Stadium, but there are better ways to convince the fan base.

I have to admit that it’s tough to find things to write about with this team, particularly when they’re home. How many times can we say the same thing? They need their big bats to step up. They should make some roster moves. They should make a change at hitting coach. Oh man, the starting pitching should be mad at the bats. I can say it all again and again and again, but it’s the same story again and again and again. The one thing that I haven’t written and won’t write is that they’ve given up. Because they haven’t, no matter what you might read on the internet.

I can get into a little of the actual game (maybe games since I didn’t write anything yesterday about Tuesday night), but one thing that I was particularly struck by was the tone in last night’s manager's press conference. There is a vocal group of fans who think Matt Quatraro should be replaced. Maybe you, reading this right now, are part of that group. I think you’re wrong, and that’s okay. You think I’m wrong for thinking I’m wrong. Last night was the first time I can remember him being as short as he was. There are times that he’ll answer a question (sometimes not a great one), and I’ll think that it was a bit of a sarcastic or short answer, but he was not happy last night, nor should he be.
