Just Bob and the Boys Boppin'
The Royals superstar led another big game for the offense and another win.
When the leadoff hitter gets four hits, including two triples, and isn’t the biggest story of the night, you know it was a great day for the offense. I’ll get to what Maikel Garcia did here in a minute, but Bobby Witt Jr. continues to do things on the baseball field that so few can. The Royals beat the Tigers 10-3 and Witt had a direct impact on seven of the 10 runs. He had three hits, six runs batted in and three runs scored. Two of the runs scored came on his own home runs, but he came around to score on a Salvador Perez single in the first, which was the seventh run he was a part of.
It’s just another outstanding game for the young superstar, who is now hitting .304/.362/.546 with a 148 wRC+. He hasn’t gotten the home run stroke down just yet, though maybe after two in this one, he’s getting there. But he’s on pace for 23 homers, 45 doubles and 19 triples. If you’re wondering how many players in history have those three extra base hit numbers, the answer would be exactly zero. It’s just wild to me that it feels like he’s putting up the numbers he has, and it hasn’t felt like he’s been great yet.
