Royals Free Agent Targets - Hitters
The World Series starts this week, which means we're almost back to the Royals being relevant.
As good of a season as the Royals had in 2024, they still have holes to fill as they move forward and hope to climb back to 86 wins and beyond. The offense was a strong point for them for most of the season, but they struggled down the stretch when the lack of depth was apparent after Vinnie Pasquantino’s thumb injury. And even when he returned for the postseason, they showed that they need more than their big first baseman back.
In this list, I’ve put together the targets that I think are realistic, even if some are right on the border of unrealistic. I don’t think they’re looking at first basemen, so someone like Christian Walker isn’t on here, but he’d still be interesting to me. I suppose they could look to add a DH, which I’ll get to below, but I feel like it would make more sense in a platoon role to continue to get Salvador Perez days off from catching.
