The Royals 2024 MLB Draft Preview

The MLB Draft starts this weekend, and the Royals have a shot to add to the top of their farm system in a big way.

I was pretty disappointed when the Royals ended up with the sixth pick in the 2024 draft. I still am because I think if you’re going to get the sixth pick, you’d rather get the seventh and not start a lottery clock. Remember that a team like the Royals cannot select in the lottery (top six picks) more than two years in a row. You obviously hope that they’re a playoff team and aren’t part of that pool, but it sure felt like they were more than two years away when the lottery happened. But that’s where the ping pong ball fell, and they had the sixth pick.
