I don’t want to root for my opinions….But I saw DM quadruple down on Cal talking about how “well” he is doing in the role at the camp yesterday. I will root for my opinions until he is gone. LOL
He absolutely made a silly comment. Again. But the reality is that he's the pitching coach for now. My guess is he won't be to start 2023. He may not even be after the break. We'll see about that. The guy has shown for nearly four and a half years now that he's not good enough to be a coach in the big leagues. My hunch is that he's not going to have figured out how to get all these arms humming so instead of lamenting every good performance because it might keep him in his job for another 10 years, I'm not going to turn my nose up to a good run of pitching. The odds are that they'll hit another bad skid. The cream rises to the top just like the crap falls to the bottom.
Joel beat me to the punch on DM's comment on CE. I certainly hope you are right that Eldred is gone and maybe Moore also. I have always been a supporter of Moore, after a statement like he made yesterday I ready for new leadership at the top. When are you you going to starting to look at draft prospects. Great piece as usual.
Unless this is the new norm for Royals pitching, I don't think Cal will be back next year. I don't know if he'll be gone as soon as we all would like, but I don't really see how he can be back. Of course I didn't see it for 2020 or 2021 or 2022 either, so...
As for the draft, I don't know. I'll probably put something up in a bit, but Royals Farm has some of the best Royals draft coverage out there, so I'd check them out.
Greinke Solution-Bubic or Lynch: Greinke can only go 5 innings or 6 innings at most, have Bubic or Lynch finish his game(save the Pen), or start Lynch or Bubic have the other finish his game...nobody is sent down,(save the pen).BW
Related to rooting for your opinions: how many times in the past several years have we all had strong opinions about a particular Royals player or coach, while at the same time hoping desperately to be proven wrong?
Staumont Tuesday night was consistently taking 32 to 40 seconds between pitches. With all that farting around is it any wonder that he walked the first two guys in order to bring Mike Trout to the plate?
Tempo? Rhythm? Whodat? (If only the Royals had someone whose job it is to coach the pitchers and help them correct these kinds of things. If only.)
Staumont got lucky when Trout made a noisy but fairly harmless out. Matheny, to his credit, got him out of there before Ohtani came up and drove in one of the runners who had walked. The next batter drove in the other one to tie the game, just as Staumont deserved.
Staumont certainly seems to be one of the pitchers who will be most affected by the pitch clock next year. And I, for one, can't wait!

FWIW: I'll be rooting for your opinion too!

That's happened to me a whole bunch of times!
Watching Royals pitchers beat Mike Trout on high fastballs and sliders will never get old.
EDIT: I know this post may not age well.
I was enjoying telling my wife last night that the 2014 Royals are the reason Trout had to work so hard to close up the one hole in his swing.
Frustration: there are no MLB AB's available for Vinnie or Pratto. But by God, we're making sure that Sebastian Rivero gets HIS at-bats.
And let's be honest here, that's the most important thing of all, right?
Is there a different Sebastian Rivero who isn’t in AA?
😸 see what happens when I get punch-drunk after watching a 4-Hour marathon? They all start to blend together....
Rivero, Rivera, potato, potahto - we should write a song!
I'm so secure in my fanhood that I'm not even going to delete that embarrassing error!
