A double header sweep with good pitching and hitting by people we hope can come through next year and beyond too! A nice recovery event from the Chief's loss, and it brings out my optimistic crystal ball, where we do have enough good starting and relieving pitching and depth, and can properly figure out the position player puzzle for next year and beyond. Salvy/MJ C/DH, Pratto 1B, Whit 2B or RF, Nicky SS or 2B, Witt 3B, Benny LF, Taylor CF, Mondesi/Whit/Dozier/Isbel RF/utility, Hanser Alberto utility. Dream day!

Always good to see the guys who will actually be part of the future get it done. And so nice to see Dozier getting going too. Really helps to make better days feel closer.

Great win. Just believe Matheny has the juice to lead the team in '22.

This sure feels real with Nicky. Nice to likely have shortstop solved long-term. Damn good player.

Random thought. Say what you will about Dayton Moore, but he has a knack for finding the bargain bin relievers who turn out pretty good. Great example last night with Payamps, Tapia, and Brentz. Plenty of examples previous years, too. Don't look now, but the Royals may have the makings of a pretty darn good bullpen next year. If I'm not mistaken those 3, along with Staumont, Barlow, Zuber, Lovelady and Zimmer are all available to be brought back by arbitration. Add some young MILB arms to the mix, and maybe a Keller and/or Junis...might be just what we need to back up next year's young starters.

Payamps looked pretty good last night, but I'm not sure there'll be a spot for him and I wouldn't be too surprised if Zimmer and Junis are non-tendered. But Barlow, Staumont, Brentz and Tapia are a heck of a start. Then like you say, Lovelady looked really good. Speier might be something. I'm excited to see Dylan Coleman too now. There are some big arms back there.
