I thought Perez was good on the first pitch but yeah, that's ridiculous. He wasn't missing last night.
Good thoughts for Lynch today; I also want to see him keep the pace he had in the Lou'. Keep the defense engaged and throw the pill.
And Man am I glad it looks like your Dozier optimism was spot on - me and every other Royals fan! Speaking of thoughts of every Royals fan - am I the only one who was uber-excited the skid was only five games lol?
I remember being disappointed if he didn't homer on one of the first two pitches last year because he hit 26 of his homers in the first two pitches. Crazy stuff there.
And no, five games is the max for a losing streak this year if they want any hope of competing. Of course, they can't do it like seven times, but a couple five-game losing streaks won't kill them. A 10-gamer will. And losing 14 of 16 will (or whatever) but if they can keep the streaks down, they have a shot with this bullpen and defense.
Solid win last night. Thoughts on trading Hernandez? Feel like there is enough there for other teams to still want stuff wise….results were decent last year. His stuff is too good to not get the strikeouts. I still like him the best but man I don’t know why he can’t get more whiffs. The more I’m seeing of these young group the more I’m discouraged by the apparent lack of progress over the offseason. The 70-77 win predictions seem right on to me after the first 10 games or so. It’s time for Matheny to move Witt Jr out of the 2 or 3 spot as well. The talent is there an he’s going to be good….but I may be old school in thinking you should earn hitting in the middle of the order first.
Boy do I hate when I defend Cal Eldred (and I don't know that I'm defending him as much as saying he doesn't deserve all the blame here), but the lockout made it tough for these guys to have a regular offseason, sadly. I wish there was more progress, but so far, it doesn't look much like it. I would honestly trade any of the young starters other than maybe Lynch. I just love that stuff too much and he's shown he can get outs in the big leagues. I think you build that depth specifically to be able to trade some and if they get through this group without making a move surrounding multiple arms that are just sitting there, they deserve to be taken to task for that.
The Witt thing, yeah, he's put him in a tough position because now it's become a demotion if he's hitting seventh or whatever. I think BWJ can handle it, but there are optics there I could see the Royals not wanting to show. At least not yet. At some point if he doesn't hit, they'll have to, but it's also nine games and he did at least hit a rocket last night.
Defending Cal?…..wow…….I……uh…….huh. Yep, I totally get you have to find a willing trade partner. I’m not saying there is or has been one so it could all be mute. But man my #1 fear is that of this group of pitchers they get very little out of it when a Montas/Castillo/Mahle…were “potentially” out there. It’s all speculation. Just keep it entertaining over the summer fellas!
I'm all for shopping two young arms and I think I'm getting your drift that he may have more value than most of the other young arms at this point so I'm on board.
I'd be surprised if they move BWJ but only 4 batters are hitting so who would you move to the 2?
With our struggles the first time through the order I'd love to see Lopez hit first to give us some life. Switch Whit to the 9 hole and let BWJ hit with a duck on the pond instead of no fish in the water.
I have read several post game articles and the comments of those posts and not one mention of Taylor's run saving throw to home. Where's the love for the defense.
Hernandez: mechanical, if you noticed when throwing his Fastball, he was falling off to the 1st base side, thus his arm is not staying with his body, which left the Fastball up and fat for hitting and did the Twins "TEE OFF" . Instead of "FALLING OFF" to the 1st base side, plant the his NOSE in the catching mitt, Fastball will come down around the knees and Hernandez will be dominate and better control, almost unhittable and will pickup 3 mphs+ on the Fastball. Let's get this W and to .500!!!

Who had Collin Snider as the star of the pitching staff back in March?
I can safely say that I was 100% on board with Snider and figured he'd be a beast.
The nice thing about the internet is you can't me sweating because I'm lying so hard here.
Lol - Never tell Snider the odds! He's currently tied for 4th among all pitchers in WAR. #2, all by himself is Keller.
Can we score some runs boys???

It goes back to my unpopular opinions that he’s not ALWAYS the problem! But they definitely need to pick a couple out to move and get some impact.

I am afraid if we need homers to win. the royals in trouble this year.
Michael A. Taylor, an elite center fielder, maybe the best defender in baseball. Ben Wierzbicki

I was saving it so you could bring the love.
