I guess I’d forgotten that Pratto was injured the last couple years. IDK if that is good or bad to be honest. On the one hand, I guess it’s good because it would explain the lack of power. On the other hand it is just another question. Can you stay healthy enough along with making enough contact after two years? We’ll see what happens. It may not be the first month, but we’ll see all these guys up and playing at some point during the year. Will need them all.

I knew he was hurt at points, but didn't realize that he was feeling it the whole time. I do agree it brings up the question of why it won't come back if it was something he wasn't able to shake. And also it's super convenient to explain away struggles, but also sometimes there really is a reason for struggles.

Great post, David. I'm excited about the possible emergence of Pratto. Seems odd that a player of his age would have an injury that lingers for 2 seasons. Melendez looks great too. Go Royals! I'll be curious about your pitching projections. Singer looks a bit concerning. The narrative of Singer not getting a normal spring training and causing a terrible season seems odd as well. Maybe Marsh emerges there?

I *think* that these were multiple injuries. Not sure if that's better or worse, but that's my understanding at least.

I won't get into the pitching here because obviously that'll come tomorrow, but I do think there is at least some merit to the spring training thing with Singer given his issues with release point, but I think that only was a portion of his issues last year.

Yeah, we can save Singer for tomorrow. But I looked at his split stats before and after the all-star break. I can buy some of the issues to spring training as he was better in the second half. Not good necessarily, but better, and much more playable. I think he has a small bounce back year actually. But curious tomorrow if you have anything on his stuff bouncing back. Save it for tomorrow tho.

Thanks for the insight and post. Still wondering where Hampson fits into the roster - his offseason signing was curious. Seems like the same type of player as Loftin and KC could cover CF with Blanco. I know Hampson will be on roster since he is a FA signing. He also signed so early in offseason.

I actually have a much easier time understanding Hampson than Frazier. Hampson is a true backup who can play a handful of positions. Frazier is starting at third today, but he's basically a second baseman who has an outfielder's mitt. I just don't get that deal other than as a means to push Massey.

It’s been great hearing about legitimate position-player depth for the Royals. I can’t honestly remember a time when the Royals have had this (since early 2000’s). Where there will be guys left in the minors who would normally have been starters in the past.

So many fans just can’t wrap their heads around different lineups/everyday players…….its nice to have this forum to chat!!

I feel like Garcia is setting the table & being removed by a first pitch ground ball. We need a high contact, patient lefty at #2.

Jack H Maybe Pratto at #2 in lineup if he is for real.
