Possibly, but he's got the yips bad on throws. As a pitcher, we are talking missing locations by inches or a foot or two at most, but he can't throw it within feet of his infielders. I can see the emotions coming through and its a problem, but even if you're annoyed at the umps, a major league player should be able to field and put a throw close enough to record an out. Just saying, if he doesn't make the error, I'm not sure that the frustration over balls and Ks would have mattered.
Sure, I see what you're saying, but what I'm saying is that I don't think he makes the bad throws if he's not seething about things out of his control. I could be way off, but he doesn't seem to have issues when things are going smoothly.
However, I'd always rather have to Coach their competitiveness down, as opposed to trying to Coach it up.
And I'd certainly be more excited about Coaching a pitcher with big league stuff but needs to work on composure, who has had pretty decent success thus far, than someone who no big league stuff and plenty of composure.
These Coaches get paid well to do a job, and as a Coach, you know what you're signing up for.
One player I think who has been overlooked is Gutierrez. He has quietly been above serviceable and has made some key plays.
You did mention him above and one thing I noticed was his in-game adjustment at the plate. Earlier in the game he swung at basically the same pitch but flied out to right b/c he was too far under it. When he nailed it he flattened that swing out and voila!
He's done a good job for us and that's kudos to him, but also the organization for finding and grooming him. I don't think he's an everyday big leaguer yet, but he has been thus far in my opinion.
I'm a fan of Gutierrez. He hits the ball hard but really needs to lift the ball more. We saw what happened last night when he did and we see it periodically. The issue with him is that he's out of options after this season and figures to be surpassed by BWJ for third base, so I'm very curious to see what they do with him.
Brady Singer's fielding % is lower than Nicky Lopez's OPS....... that is more of a problem than his bulldog temper getting the best of him.
My argument is that the latter has something to do with the former.

It's definitely an issue.

You overlooked my favorite moment - Santana grinding out an hour-long at-bat in the 8th and making Denny impossibly cranky on the radio because of it.
I love it when Denny gets cranky.
That was my favorite too - so much so I watched it 2.5 times explaining the value of it in detail to my gf before she got up and called a friend...
