Appreciate you, Lesky.

I'm from Montréal and trying to find a new team to cheer. Always liked the Mariners as a kid but the Royals reminded me the Expos. Love your writing, I'm learning about the team everyday!

You're definitely getting in on the ground floor with the Royals right now. If it works, they'll probably be pretty darn good soon enough. If it doesn't work, well, Bobby Witt Jr. should be fun at least. Thanks and welcome!

in regards to Witt, do you think that a switch in batting spots with him and Mondesi will happen soon?

I suppose it's possible. Mondesi isn't exactly tearing the cover off the ball either. But I'd say if this gets to something like 60-70 plate appearances and he's still not hitting that you might see him reset toward the bottom of the order.

It’s too early to be concerned with the pitching…..but where is Montas when you need him? (Yes, he did get lit up the other day as well…but).

Yeah, I was thinking about that the other day. Obviously you go more than a turn or two through the rotation, but it gets more and more tempting with every rough start.

I think the main disappointment to me is that the Indians offense isn’t very good. Lol. You saw a stark contrast between the guys who have done it before (Grienke, Keller) and the young guys. The gap between them was the concerning part. No, it doesn’t matter yet, its quite the overreaction at this point really. But certainly interesting.

Yeah, it’s something to watch. The first week is all about overreaction. If we’re still seeing these issues in two weeks, it becomes a lot more concerning to me. They need Lunch to pitch at least reasonably well tonight.

My biggest issue with the lack of developing arms and our Royals is that we know we can’t develop them (we’d have to be fools to suspect otherwise) AND we don’t trade them away when they’re valuable before we don’t develop them.

In guerrilla warfare you turn weaknesses into strengths. For example, if you’re smaller and have less resources, you focus on being nimble and making quicker adjustments: see Ukraine.

Besides Duffy we haven’t developed a legit mid-rotation OR above starter since Greinke and he came that way!

Sooooooo, let the arms ball out in the minors and then cluster them together in trades for PROVEN arms. Not tough at all. Can you imagine what we would’ve gotten for Kowar and a little more just a year ago?

If you refuse to deal with the issue (Cal) then at least take advantage of the situation. We refuse to do either.

Absolutely. They haven't handled that well in the past. They have done a lot of work with the development system, but I think with pitchers more than hitters that development continues at the big league level and the Royals simply don't have the piece in place to continue that development.

So I'm sort of curious what happens moving forward, but I certainly have my doubts given that a move at the big league level doesn't seem likely.
