A bit of a bummer that Keller and Grienke are trending the wrong direction with Singer coming on. Can’t quite seem to make up any ground with it really right now. I think we all know the moves that need to be made and I can totally see it coming after this road trip for the home stand to generate some interest.

Here’s my question for ya - Do you see a 10 game losing streak coming this year. I was going to say its been a step forward that they haven’t had one already….but then I got to thinking about it and they’ve had 2 five game losing streaks and a 6 game losing streak already without any real winning streaks…..So maybe they’ve technically already had a 10+ game losing streak and we are splitting hairs here.

I don’t know if I’d say that Keller is actually trending in the wrong direction or if he’s just regressing to the mean. He’s probably a guy who you can expect to have an ERA in the high-3s to lowish-4s. While he’s struggled in his last four, it really is two bad and two generally fine starts. But it would have been nice if he could have kept up the shiny ERA pitching for a bit longer.

If you had asked me a month ago about a 10-gamer, I’d have said no way. The bullpen was too good. Now I’m not as sure. I feel good about Singer and Lynch and I think Keller will generally keep them in games, but the other two spots in the rotation are iffy enough that I could easily see 10-12 losses in a row. The crazy thing is that losing that many in a row (or winning them) is such a statistical anomaly that it’s truly amazing the Royals do it so often. So while I’ll always bet against that long streak, you can’t ever say never with this team.

So If my math is right….if the royals play .500 ball they will finish with the exact same record as last year @ 74-88. I think .500 for the rest of the year is very optimistic outlook. It doesn’t mean it can’t be a more successful season than last year with everyone coming up. But there is a very real possibility that they finish with a worse record than last year. Which is a tough pill to swallow for fans in year 5 of a rebuild. Lol.

Yep, it’s a very bad look to take a step back. But you’re right. If they even go, say, 69-93 but the lineup from midseason on includes Witt, Melendez, Pratto, Pasquantino, Isbel, Olivares, etc. it’ll at least feel a little different than doing it with Santana and Co.

Every morning, I look and see if you’ve posted any new content. You’ve become my go-to Royals analysis. Thank you!

I missed the game yesterday. What did you think of MJ in RF? Do you think that’s something the royals continue to play with?

That’s so kind of you to say. Thanks so much!

MJ unfortunately didn’t get many chances, so I couldn’t judge but the reports on him in the outfield in Omaha were generally positive. I think they’re pretty committed to getting him in the lineup, so I’d look for him out there and maybe some at third base too.

They way Matheny said it, it sounds like Zack was being bothered by his elbow all game long. If so, why didn’t they pull him when it first started bothering him? I could be wrong, but I doubt one can fix an elbow problem with more pitching.

I don’t think Greinke told anyone until after. But I have no idea.

Help me- What can possibly be the rationale for continuing to play Santana and keeping O’Hearn around?

They’re clearly trying to up Santana’s trade value. It’s beyond stupid.
