I found it a little hard to believe that Singer was throwing "good pitches" in the fifth inning as Matheny stated considering the first six batters saw a total of EIGHT pitches. As Josh Donaldson famously said about Edinson Volquez during a contentious start in Toronto in '15, "it was some good hittin' out there."
Some of it was probably just manager-speak. I mean it's not like he was able to actually review the pitches in depth by that point, but they weren't good pitches. The stuff did look crisp. I went back and watched some from the television camera angle and if the location was better, he may have had a great game. But it wasn't. So he didn't.
Keller, thanks, for the video: review his land foot, it needs to move 3" to 5" to the left, reason, this will allow: fastball and slider lower in strike zone, his finish balance is holding his follow thru back, Bubic, pitched at 35% of his ability, agree with you his last 2 FBS at the end of 5th inning is a true look at his ability and guess what: Bubic pitched backward: led with change-up, not establishing his FB first...Heasley: question: where has that BREAKING Ball been, again, established this pitch, let's see what the next start brings....Ben Wierzbicki. ps keep up the good work you are doing....
So I watched a bit of the Brewers/Padres game on Saturday with Ashby going against Gore. I came away extremely impressed with both. Stuff, pitch location, sequencing, poise. I know they were highly touted prospects but my point is they were so far ahead of Lynch it was quite amazing. And it was one sample size, but they were light years ahead of Lynch, Singer, Bubic, and Kowar at this stage of development. To the point that I thought, this isn’t going to be good enough. lol….now, we have a small crop of them so hopefully some of them figure it out but the difference was quite a bit.
The one thing I would caution you in making those judgments is that take a look at the Mackenzie Gore trajectory. He struggled so much last year that MLB Pipeline dropped him from number six before 2021 to number 86 before this year. He took his lumps and made some changes and is now dominating. Granted he's younger than any of the Royals guys, but development truly isn't linear.
And Ashby? Well he's maddening because he's a local guy, born in KC and was drafted from Crowder College in Neosho. But the Brewers are a freaking machine. my hope is that the Royals finally see the writing on the wall and do what they did on the hitting side and bring in people from organizations like Milwaukee to be able to make so much of what they touch turn to gold.
I'm not saying your feelings are wrong because I really don't think they are, but both those guys are a lesson for the Royals (and fans honestly) that some better development and even a little patience can go a long way with pitching.
Since Royals management seem to care nothing of the fans wishes, and seem to want to extend our agony. Maybe its time to switch strategies. Instead of pleading with them, start a meme of they blew it completely on the rebuild.
Write stories and comments saying they need to trade everybody. Prospects and all current roster members. Time to fire everybody, since they can't even produce an average team. Tell them its time for a real rebuild, and admit they were complete failures on the most recent one.
If they see enough of that, maybe we can get them to try and prove us wrong and finally get rid of the all the dead weight. Push Sherman to finally put his foot down. Then maybe they will start bringing up who we want to see
I think Matheney could get a free trip to Las Vegas so they could take all his money. He is too much of a gambler, putting in pitchers late in the game who gave up 4 runs and left the Royals unable to recover. I get tired of hearing about how bad the players played and not putting enough blame on management and coaching. Every player has a bad game at some point and it is up to management to react to it. The fans and the players deserve better than they are getting.
I just read that Salvy reached out to ex-hitting coach Terry Bradshaw in an effort to get out of his slump. What are we doing here? If the players don't trust their current coaches, this franchise is in serious trouble.
As most, I'm perplexed why Vinnie Pasquantino has yet to be called up by the Royals. So, I looked at his splits and noticed that he's hitting 233 in night games. Could this a source of concern for the Royals? Besides him being slow footed and strictly a first basemen or DH I can see no other reason to not promote him immediately.
This might come off a little harsh, and I don't mean it that way, but day/night splits aren't worth the time you spent clicking to look at them. My guess is they don't truly believe in him and they're trying their hardest to get Santana some results to be able to trade him.
I didn't take your comment as harsh. It was frank and to the point. I see nothing wrong with that. Then, the Royals must not believe in him, which is disappointing because he couldn't do any worse than what's left of near the end of his career Santana.

Santana sits, we win. Santana plays, we lose.

Yeah, I'm confused by that too. Tosar was always his guy even before he was part of the organization.
